My Non-Stop Summer Tunes

Every summer, there are those five or so songs that encapsulate the season, in the way that if you heard these songs in the future again, you would think to yourself *this is so summer 2016!*. Those songs are my favourite, as they somehow manage to take you back to wonderful summer memories. These are the songs which I will probably look back on in years to come and think – this sums up my summer of 2018!

Paradise – George Ezra

I am obsessed with George Ezra’s album Staying at Tamara’s (how many times have I said this though now), but Paradise is my absolute summer anthem. I’m actually seeing him live this week (!!!) and therefore this song will not sum up my summer any better.

No Tears Left To Cry – Ariana Grande

The first time I listened to this one I was a little disappointed, then heard it again and thought it was a bit catchy, and now I listen to it all the time. Oops. I can’t even decide if I actually really like it or just think it’s so bad that it’s good but it’s definitely one of my summer 18 essentials. It’s just that ‘I’m picking it up, picking it up, I’m lovin I’m livin I’m pickin it up’ that you just have to say along with Ariana feeling like a real boss and I love it.

Is This Still Love – Danny Jones

My FAVE PERSON EVER aka 1/4 of McFly aka Danny Jones released his first solo single this month and it was everything I anticipated and more!! It’s been eight years since a McFly studio album and while the other guys are off doing other things, Danny has embarked on a solo career which I could not be happier about. I can’t wait for more music (Danny please come up and tour the north we need you), but for now Is This Still Love will definitely be played on repeat by myself the whole summer (and possibly forever).

Back To You – Selena Gomez

I actually really love Selena’s latest single and was really excited by it on first listen. I love how simple it begins and builds up until when the beat drops after the chorus! It’s a really lovely song lyrically and it kind of reminds me of her older song Bad Liar which I really liked, but Back To You is one I love a whole lot more and can tell I will be listening to a lot this summer.

 Nervous – Shawn Mendes

I bought Shawn Mendes latest self-titled album in New York and haven’t had much chance to listen to it unfortunately (I’ve just been way obsessed with George Ezra and 5SOS’ albums to even give it a second thought), but Nervous is one of his latest songs that has managed to sneak its way onto my playlist. It’s so funky and Shawn’s vocals when he hits those high notes!! Yes please!!
