As soon as it hits the first of December, I can’t resist finding my Christmas playlist on Spotify to get into a more festive mood. This time of year, nobody can say no to a good Christmas song, so today I’ve compiled a few of my favourites to get you into the Christmas spirit.
My first favourite is Cold December Night by Michael Bublé. We can all agree that December is the month when Michael Bublé defrosts and is literally heard everywhere! Cold December Night, an original Christmas song of his, is my all time favourite Christmas song. It has been for year upon year now, it just feels really festive and gets me so excited for Christmas. Similarly, I also love to listen to his It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, when it really is.
You have to have some classic Christmas songs on any Christmas playlist too, such as Fairytale of New York, a favourite of many – I don’t find it overly festive but still like it? Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens is one that really makes me think of Christmas too. All I Want For Christmas Is You is a classic, not my personal favourite but I don’t think you can get through the festive season without constantly hearing it on a music channel.
Another favourite of mine this year is Christmas Lights by Coldplay. Of course, as they are one of my favourite artists I had no doubt their festive offering wouldn’t be a disappointment, and I love how it builds up. It’s a classic Coldplay masterpiece and it’s even better because it’s festive.
The Vamps made a whole Christmas album a few years ago, therefore, of course, they litter my whole playlist. My favourite of theirs changes every year, but I love their version of I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday because the part where Connor interrupts is hilarious.
Something else that features on my Christmas playlist is a few songs from The Muppets Christmas Carol soundtrack. I found this on Spotify last year because it makes me feel so festive, having watched the film every single Christmas – I loathed it when I was younger, but having studied A Christmas Carol at high school and ending up loving the songs I have more of an appreciation for it now.
