Carrie Hope Fletcher is often referred to by viewers of her YouTube channel, ‘ItsWayPastMyBedtime’, as an “honorary big sister”. Why? Her fun videos which any teenager could relate to. She offers advice on a range of topics such as confidence, friendships and romance. When Carrie announced she was releasing a book which is described as ‘wonderings and reflections on growing up peacefully‘, I was really excited to get my hands on a copy. All I Know Now (a book with the same title as her blog name) is her videos and blog in book form; and it is wonderful.

The book is sectioned into chapters which are called ‘acts’, linking to Carrie’s theatre life as she is in Les Miserables in London’s West End. There is also an ‘interval’ page in the middle of the book to let me know I was half way through, a unique feature I love. The book covers such a wide range of topics, from friendships, internet safety and simply feeling good and happy about yourself. If you need any advice on surviving the teenage years, you can find it in this book.

I’ve been watching Carrie on YouTube for a long while now (she was actually the first YouTuber I watched) and I think her personality really comes across in the book. Her illustrations are amazing – they help to bring a touch of Carrie to the book. Her little anecdotes of her own experiences made me giggle along the way too!

Once I got to the end of the book I was disappointed… only because I wanted to keep reading! I’d love Carrie to bring out a sequel of some sort one day. If I ever have a problem I know I’ll now be able to go to Carrie’s book for advice. The book is generally aimed for teenagers, so if you’re a bit older it may not be the book for you, but since it is described as how to “grow up gracefully” this should come as no surprise.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on Carrie’s book if you have read it. Or if you have any suggestions of what I should read next, please comment below as I’m looking for something new to read now!
