The best elf cosmetics products

Here are the makeup products from affordable but high quality beauty brand elf that you need to try.

Elf are one of the most exciting beauty brands right now. Their products are available at your local Superdrug or Boots, and the quality of many is just as good as those you’d pay double for. Here are a few of my favourites of their makeup range that you need to try.

Halo Glow Liquid Filter

The Halo Glow can be used on its own or underneath makeup to even skin tone and add a subtle refreshing glow. Personally, I love pairing it with a bit of concealer for a natural finish. I haven’t tried the similar product made by Charlotte Tilbury, whose marketing claims to be the ‘original’, but at a much higher price point I can’t imagine it being drastically better. I would recommend trying elf’s first to get a feel for the formula. My only caveat is despite using the lightest shade, it’s slightly too dark for me in the winter months, so something to bear in mind if you’re as pale as I am; but in the summer it is perfect.

Camo Liquid Blush

This blush is a pint-sized makeup bag saviour with a long-lasting finish. If you’re looking for a blush that’s not too in-your-face pink, the shade ‘Peach Perfect’ will add a subtle and warm glow next to bronzer. It’s very buildable, so I’d recommend applying a couple of drops to start off with and layering carefully until your desired finish.

Halo Glow Liquid Blush

As someone who used to not get on with blush, I can’t believe I’m featuring two in the list but elf have truly converted me! This is what I’d consider a ‘night out blush’, as it has a lovely iridescent shimmer to elevates your look. I love how easy it is to apply: simply squeeze the tube so the liquid starts to appear at the top of the sponge, tap it lightly onto your cheeks and blend with a brush. The sponge applicator makes applying far more precise, handily ensuring you don’t get dollops of pink liquid all over your face! The shade ‘Pink Me Up’ is a pretty and classic pink, but there’s a range of six blush shades ranging from champagne to more brown tones.

Bite-Size Eyeshadow

Elf have managed to create the perfect eyeshadow compact to pop into your travel makeup bag and I absolutely love them for it. These elf quads come in a variety of shades, my favourite being ‘I Love You A Latte’, a selection of matte browns perfectly versatile for on-the-go. I have tried a range of elf eyeshadows and find them impressively long-lasting, and this quad is no exception.

Satin Lipstick

Encased in a matte black magnetised tube, elf’s satin lipsticks feel just as luxurious as those you’d pay triple for. The shade I own, Dirty Talk, is very much a your-lips-but-better neutral tone, so I fancy trying a couple of bolder shades to really test the colour payoff. The formula is exactly what you’d expect from its ‘satin’ description; not drying like some mattes are, but not overwhelmingly shiny. The perfect middleground for everyday use.

Cream Glide Lip Liner

These lip liners are so good I own three shades: a pink, a brown-beige and a red. They glide on with ease and make any lipstick they’re paired with last far longer. The best bit? They’re just £3. The true definition of an absolute steal – if you are tempted to try anything, make it one of these!
